| Rules: The Batchall | ||
The BatchallThe Batchall is the ritual by which Clan Warriors issue combat challenges. Though the challenge may take many forms, in most cases the Batchall begins with the attacker identifying who they are and, announcing the objective of the Trial, and requesting to know what forces stand against him. The defender (particularly if a Clan Team) must reveal the force they intend to use in the trial, and also may choose the mission for the battle, in accordance with the Combat Rules. Because of its very nature, a Batchall will take place prior to any Turn submissions, (however they can take place after a Turn submission, if both parties are in agreement. Furthermore, this is typically done ONLY when facing an Inner Sphere Opponent). A Batchall is, for all intents and purposes, a pre-arranged battle, where both sides have agreed to certain limitations. Assuming that the defender replies that he accepts the Batchall, the process can begin. Overrun Ratios will not be used at any time during a The Astral Dominion League Automation has a Batchall feature built into the Offensive Moves portion of the Code. This feature will automatically generate a Batchall and send a Notice to a Defender, announcing that a Batchall is being made against a Planet. Once a Batchall has been initiated, the Attacker is “locked in” to their attack, and cannot back out of it, short of a withdrawal at the start of the Combat Phase. Once a Batchall notice has been sent, the Defender can then Log into their Automation Interface, and enters in their “Initial” Defensive Bid. Once a Defensive Bid has been entered, the Attacker is notified that a Defensive Bid has been placed. The Attacker may then choose the forces that they will use as the Initial Bid for the Assault. Although a Clan Team Leader can send any number of Mechs to an Attack on the Planet is question, his initial bid may be no more than 125% of the total number of defending Mechs (regardless of weight), and only the Mechs Bid as his Initial Bid may be used in Combat, for as long as Clan RoEs are in effect. The final Cut-Down bid will be determined verbally between the 2 opposing Team Leaders. The Forces in a Cut-Down Bid must contain a total Mech weight equal to, or less than the defending force, and/or it must have a total number of Mechs equal to or less than the total number of defending Mechs. If during the battle, either Team Leader determines that loss may be inevitable, they may break their Cut-Down Bid (with a significant loss of Honor) and “call down” as many additional Sub-Units as he feels are necessary, up to a maximum of his “initial bid”. The amount of honor lost will usually depend upon the circumstances of the battle, but can sometimes result in a loss of honor greater than the amount gained by the battle victory. If one of the Team Leaders decides to completely void the Batchall, he may "call down" any and all forces available (over and above the Initial Bid amount). This will result is a massive penalty in Honor Points. If an Inner Sphere team leader has accepted a Batchall, and voids the Batchall at any Time, the Clan Team may void the Batchall without any further penalties relating to Batchall. The losing Team of a Batchall battle will always receive “Safcon” of their remaining forces to the nearest friendly planet if the choose to retreat. Because Inner Sphere troops regularly use deception and other tactics that the Clans consider dishonorable, many Clans have abandoned the Batchall when fighting Inner Sphere foes. In the event of a Batchall battle using Zellbrigen, violation of these dueling rules can also void the Batchall. The choice will remain with the Team Leader, whether or not to offer a Batchall to Inner Sphere Teams. | ||
