Multiple Attackers/Defenders and AlliesAttackersIn certain instances, two or more Teams may attack the same target on the same turn. This poses several problems, such as who gets to attack first, and what happens to whom and in what order. The Astral Dominion League will avoid these situations in the following manner: Only the Attacker who has “Right of Way” will be permitted to carry on with the attack, when multiple Attackers are involved. “Right of Way” is gained in one of several different ways: · The attacker with the largest attacking force (Largest number of Mechs) will always be given the “Right of Way”. · Several smaller attackers (or ALL attackers) may team together and form a “Joint Strike Force”. When a Joint Strike Force is formed, all attacking Mechs are considered to be, for combat purposes, to be on the same Team. This would allow several smaller Teams to outnumber a single larger attacker, and thus gain “Right of Way”. These forces are considered allied for the duration of the attack, and cannot switch sides, or attack each other until the following turn. A Joint Strike Force is only permissible if the attacking Teams can and will agree to a single “Winner” for the particular battle, if they win. The “Winning Attacker” may then divide plundered salvage and other resources gained in the attack to the other Teams of the Joint Strike Force, as he deems fit. · The attacker who gains “right of way” through the means noted above, may chose to waive his right, thus permitting the next largest force the right to carry on with the attack. Attacking forces that do not gain “Right of Way,” will be forced into one of the following options: · Wait in orbit until the following turn to carry out their attack. (No Offensive Movement Costs will be incurred on the following turn, as the forces are already at their target destination) · Declare as a Co-Defender, as long as the primary Defender accepts the offer. In this case, the Mechs are permitted to join the Defenders as part of a “Joint Defense Force” outlined below. · Jump to a different system on the following Turn, and carry out a different attack. DefendersDefenders of an attack have several options open to them as well. In many instances, Mechs from several different teams may be located on the same Planet. When under an attack, all forces on a Planet will have the option of declaring itself allied with the attacking forces, allied with the defending forces, or neutral, with the exception of a Team defending their own Planet .A Team defending their own Planet cannot declare itself allied with an attacker, nor Neutral under any circumstances. They can only accept other forces as co-defenders. When a Defender declares himself allied with an attacking force, he becomes part of a “Joint Strike Force”, as detailed above. When a Defender declares himself allied with the Defending Force, he becomes part of a “Joint Defense Force”, and as with the Joint Strike Force above, cannot change sides, nor attack their co-defenders until the following turn. If a Defender declares himself Neutral, he is considered an independent force and will be granted an “emergency escape jump” out of the system, to the nearest allied planet, or must obtain permissions from both the Attacker AND Defender to remain on the planet. | ||
