| Rules: Recons | ||
ReconsRecon Missions are typically carried out for the purpose of identifying various pieces of important information about a Planet, and are usually conducted prior to a Planetary Assault or Raid, to ascertain the defending forces located on a Planet. The information that can be gained from a Recon can include Unit and Sub Units present, Mech Types, Numbers, and/or any other aspects of the Planet that can be used to benefit the Team carrying out the Recon. Recon Missions are, by their nature, carried out by very small, typically fast Units. As a result, only a Lance or a Star, Level II sized Mech organization may be sent to conduct Recons. All Mech salvage from a Recon will go to the owner of the Planet. There is a chance that a Recon of a Planet will go completely unnoticed by the Defenders. All non-Mercenary Teams have a 10% chance of their Recon going completely un-noticed. Mercenary Teams have a 40% chance of their Recon going un-noticed. If a Recon is detected by a Defending Unit, then Combat will entail. In situations where the Recon has been detected, the Recon will be conducted as detailed below. Recon Force DeclarationsRegular Force Declarations are not sent in a Recon. Instead the Automation will note that a Recon is being attempted, in the Battle Reporting area. This report will include the target planet for the Recon and what forces are being sent on the Recon. The “Attacker” will receive no Force listing from the Planet to which the Recon is going. The Defender will “choose” the 2 Mechs that he will use for defending against the Recon. The Attacker will be able to see only those 2 selected Mechs. Preparation for Preparation for the Engagement will be similar to that of the Planetary Assault, except on a much smaller scale. The Recon will be carried out as ONE (1) Engagement; The Number of Mechs to be used by the Attacker in the “Recon Engagement” will be one (1) Mech, chosen by the Attacker, out of those sent to the Planet for the Recon. The Defending Team will be permitted to use two (2) Mechs out of the Planets available Garrison for Defense. The Defending Team will host the Game Server, select the appropriate Recon Mission to be used, and set all other Game parameters (IAW the League Standards), if a League Sanctioned Server is unavailable. Recon Missions will have a 15 Minute Time Limit. The Recon EngagementThe Attacking Team must successfully complete a League sanctioned, modified, and/or approved The Recon ‘Mech’s Nav Computer will indicate which Recon Points are the current Objectives for each Recon, and they will not be indicated until after each one has been successfully completed. These Recon Points must be done in the Randomly Generated order in which they are presented, and they must be completed before proceeding to any other Objective. The Defender will not know what Recon Points have been assigned to the Recon Mech, although they will be alerted when the Recon Mech is within a certain range of one of its assigned Recon Points. They will also be alerted when the Recon Mech has made a successful Recon of an Objective. The Recon Mech’s Nav Computer will automatically cycle to the next Objective, as each one is achieved. Once the Recon Mech has completed all three of its assigned Objectives, its Nav Computer will cycle to 1 of 3 randomly assigned Extraction Points. Only at this time, will the Defenders be notified as to the location of the Recon Mech’s next Objective (The Extraction Point), where they can try and prevent the Recon Mech from escaping. This is a really cool script and works extremely well. Following the Recon EngagementIf the Mech on the attacker’s side was destroyed prior to completing the required objectives, then no information will be gained from the recon. In the event that all defending Mechs were destroyed, and/or the mission objectives were completed successfully, the Automation will display all information for the Planet in question, at the Start of the next Turn’s Submission Phase. All Mech Organizations located on the Planet, the C-Bill income from that Planet (if and when Garrisoned), and the amount of Raw Materials (RawM) it produces each Turn will be visible. | ||
