Rules: Planetary Assaults

The Planetary Assault

A Planetary Assault is defined as combat conducted between 2 (two) opposing forces for possession of a Planet, and all the natural resources, factories, and c-bill income generated by that Planet. Planetary Assaults are usually large scale operations, and can sometimes involve extremely large numbers of Mechs. The minimum Offensive Force size required in the Astral Dominion League for a Team to conduct a Planetary Assault is 1 Company/Trinary or 2 Level II Units, although more will usually be used.  All salvage from a Planetary Assault goes to the final winner of the Battle (The Team that ends up owning the Planet at the end of the Battle). Planetary Assault Engagements will have a Time Limit of 30 minutes per Engagement. Any Mechs still alive on either side after that time period will be returned to a Team’s Force Declaration, for use in subsequent engagements. If a Clan Batchall is to be used for a Planetary Assault against another Clan, the arrangements are made PRIOR to submitting a Turn Submission, to ensure that both sides are not only prepared, but also understand and know all forces to be used. The Automation Interface has features that permit the Batchall process to be easily carried out. If a Batchall is to be used by a Clan against an Inner Sphere Team, then the Batchall can be carried out either prior to, or AFTER the Submission Phase, so long as both sides can come to an agreement.  The actual conduct of the Battle will be played out in a number of steps described in the following chapters.
