Rules: Mercenary Contracts

Contracts:

Mercenary Contracts will be governed by the MRBC as outlined below. Each of these mission types are considered legal by the Mercenary Review and Bonding Commission, certified by the commission as in accordance with the Ares Conventions and the Outreach Accords of Mercenary Employment, and represent the costs for employing 1 (one) Mercenary Mech in the specified task for 1 (one) Turn. These costs do not include the cost of Movement, which may be negotiated separately.

Defensive Contracts

Garrison Duty

A mercenary command on garrison assignment can expect to two possible types of employment.

On Border Worlds where combat is a real threat, Units can expect average pay with combat bonuses and a certain percentage of battle loss compensation (BLC) in the event of any military action. Base Pay is 10000 C-Bills.

Garrison duty on Interior Worlds frees up Regular Forces for Offensive Operations. Such a contract can expect average pay with little or no combat bonuses in the event of military action. In this type of operation, the Planet remains under the control of the employer’s Team, and the employer will continue to claim income and from that planet. Base Pay is 1000 C-Bills.

Relief Duty

Relief duty entails reinforcing other military forces. Mercenary groups that sign on for such assignments know that they will be dropping into war zones to assist defenders in danger of being overwhelmed by enemy assaults. This contract would be used when the employer and the Mercenary Team Leader know an attack is imminent and is supplementing his forces to throw back an assault. Such a contract can expect good pay, plus BLC because most often heavy combat will be involved. Base Pay is 20000 C-Bills.

Offensive Contracts

Raids are the most common type of mission contracted through Outreach. Under a Raid contract, a Mercenary Team infiltrates enemy lines, destroys or extracts the target and pulls out. Both the Mercenary Team Leader and the Employer must agree upon the type of Raid. Also with Factory and Planetary raids, the amount of stolen material kept by the Mercenary Unit or given to the Employer must be agreed upon.

Mech Manufacturing Facility Raids

Planetary Raids

Because of the high risk and little chance of re-enforcement should events turn against the mercenaries, raid contracts can expect good to excellent pay. Base Pay is 30000 C-Bills.

Reconnaissance duties

Reconnaissance duties involve infiltrating an enemy world to seek out the enemy's preparations. Typically Recons are staged a turn or more before a planetary assault or a major raid, but must not alert the enemy that an attack is imminent. Therefore, Recon forces must be able to move quickly, avoid detection and operate in small detachments. In the Astral Dominion League, pay is above average to good. Base Pay is 15000 C-Bills.

Planetary Assaults

Mercenaries are generally hired to act as support units to Regular Forces during Planetary Assaults. This duty involves heavy, protracted fighting and is often a “make or break” contract for a Mercenary Unit, regardless of size. Because Planetary Assaults usually guarantee extremely heavy fighting, the employer should offer excellent pay along with a percentage of BLC and salvage rights. Base Pay is 45000 C-Bills.
